Blake's 27th Birthday

Hello all!! Welcome to my first blog. Today was Blake's 27th birthday and the first one with Lane actually here (he was in my belly this time last year). To start the bday celebration Lane and I packed up a little picnic to have lunch with Blake. Well, apparently Lane's first tooth is coming in (I can actually see it coming through and feel it), and he was not a happy camper this morning. As I'm sure all mommies can relate, a screaming infant does not provide the best conditions for getting everything together. I hastily made the essentials for the picnic, while letting Abby (our dog) go outside. It was time for me to be leaving the house, and I was just getting to let her out. I finished getting everything together and called Abby back in. She, ofcourse, was in the neighbor's yard and wouldn't come home. Between the neighbor and me, we got her to come in my yard. Then I tripped up the back steps where Abby was waiting to get in the house and fell on her. She yowled like I was beating her, so I'm pretty sure my neighbor thinks I beat my dog.
Anyway, Lane and I finally got in the car and met Blake at work, where we then headed to Falls Park (love that place!). We all sat on our little blanket and had our little picnic. Despite the hectic morning, we all had a great time. Lane really enjoyed it. He loves to be outside and just see everything. We had the perfect shade with a gentle breeze. It was so nice to get out and enjoy God's creation and just be together with no worries.
To top off his bday I cleaned, washed clothes, and made him dinner, which is more than I can say for most days. We had fried chicken strips that had marinated in ranch dressing, baked potatoes, and caesar salad. Then we gave Blake his gifts. We got him office supplies for when he gets to really put his office together in the house. I think the sweetest part was Lane's card for his da-da that he helped me write in. Later, we gave Blake his bday cookie cake adorned with orange and purple and had a slice of it. Since it was his first bday celebration with Lane, I had "Happy Birthday Daddy" written on it. So, I tried to make this bday awesome for my awesome husband, and I think I succeeded. Until next time, God Bless.

Ashley
